1986 Chevrolet IROC-Z CamaroAbout This Vehicle:
A true GM dream date. My IROC-Z is an F-Code, basically it's the 1LE Racers with options like A/C, Radio, T-Tops, and P/W and P/L. Originally 1LE's come with 13 inch front disc! and drums in the rear. Mine is also one of around 1500 with a factory 5spd, hard to find a 3rd gen with a manual from the factory. I also run a 3:11 gear set for stellar top end, crappy 1/4 though. Body Style: Coupe

MODIFICATIONS
Engine:- Fully rebuilt factory 305
- traded the sissy heads for a custom cut set of 350 heads (huge power kick) 750cfm Edelbrock 4 barrel carb
- short tube headers (wide open)
- domed pistons
- sleeves
- rings
- Stage 2 clutch
- Borg-Warner tranny (factory)
- all in all she's around 300hp.
Suspension/Wheels/Brakes:- Factory F-Code suspenson
- with the wonder bar for the steering rack
- original rims
- but also run a set of actual IROC rims from an 86 Camaro that ran the IROC (lighter and more durable than the production set)
- with Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 series rubber (12 inches wide!!)
Interior:- Pro-Kart race seats
- aircraft custom toggle switches for ignition and other electrical goodies
- 150mph speedometer and 10
- 000rpm dash swap
- Grant GT wheel.
Exterior:- re-touched paint is about all that's been done to the exterior.
Audio:- Full sony Xplod system with DEI Comp Directed 12" subs in Q-Logic box
Future:- As everybody knows
- the 305's are known as "gutless wonders"
- so I'm going retro. I'm in the process of building and modifying and Chev 302 from the prints on a 69' Z28. These were built so that Chevy could run the Camaro in the Trans Am series
- they are factory tuned performance. GM rated them at a mere 290hp
- but they actually put out an impressive 400hp at 7700rpm!!! So I plan to tune the 400hp up to about 500hp N/A and then add a Twin Turbo system which on paper should run me up to about 750hp. I'm going to tune the car to run road courses
- so it'll have a great top end and a decent 1/4. According to GM the third gen Camaros are the best to build for handling purposes due to their wide and long stance
- and the fact that they only ride 4.5 inches off the ground already.
