PONTIAC SUNFIRE AUTOCROSS HITS 240 HORSEPOWER WITH 2.0-LITER ENGINE
Sunfire has kept the tradition of sporty, aerodynamic design alive at Pontiac, and is a symbol of style, fun and excitement in the youth-oriented segment. At the 2003 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, Pontiac expands Sunfire’s appeal with a Sunfire Autocross show car, one of several performance-tuned, specially equipped show vehicles suitable for Autocross racing applications.
The Sunfire Autocross show car is equipped with a supercharged, intercooled 2.0-liter, 240-horsepower engine, as well as performance-tuned custom struts and shocks, cat-back exhaust, Stainless Steel Brakes rotors and calipers and lowered wheel-to-body ride height.
A number of custom enhancements give the Autocross Sunfire a more substantial, performance-oriented appearance, including custom upper grille and lower front and rear fascias, rear spoiler and rockers, projector beam headlamps and dual aluminum exhaust outlet.
Custom 18-inch wheels and BF Goodrich g-force T/A KD tires complete the performance package. Inside, custom aluminum pedals, a custom shifter knob and racing-inspired front seats with four-point belts add performance touches. A Delphi custom cluster package offers redesigned graphics.
The Sunfire Autocross features a hydrographic trim kit in carbon fiber. This appearance trim kit, to be offered as a Pontiac Accessory, enables owners to custom trim their vehicles in potentially hundreds of patterns or colors.
Optically enhanced exterior paint in Bright Silver coats the Sunfire Autocross. This paint is developed by Color Design Studio of America and produced by Sherwin Williams.
