PONTIAC AMERICAN TUNER SUNFIRE ADDRESSES THE GROWING ‘TUNER’ MARKET
As the tuner market continues to thrive, the new Pontiac American Tuner Sunfire body appearance kit will give youthful enthusiasts new, inventive ways to accessorize their vehicles. The American Tuner Sunfire Coupe aftermarket body appearance kit debuts at GM dealers and professional automotive accessory retailers in late January 2004 and is based on the original show car exhibited at the 2002 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas.
An example of concept-to-reality, the Pontiac Sunfire American Tuner Package sets a new design direction for the popular compact performance car market. This new, sleek aftermarket look builds on Pontiac’s rich performance heritage. GM Design staff collaborated with Stewart Reed of Stewart Reed Design to tune the body appearance kit into the sleek new look.
Designed for the hundreds of thousands of Sunfire coupes and convertibles built between the 1995 and 2002 model years, the package enables owners to add image, performance and personal expression to their production Pontiac Sunfires, while giving younger drivers a means of getting a customized compact vehicle that fits their budget.
Many parts on the vehicle are now available separately through the GM dealer network as GM Performance Parts and GM Officially Licensed Parts. Body parts come primed and tuners can have dealers install the kit, or do it themselves using the easy-to-install “glove-over” process. The package brings “street machine” image and performance within the reach of many young auto enthusiasts who want to enhance their driving experience.
