Ever wished you were Black or (African American, African Canadian etc.) I know a lot of my brothers of color have wished they were white at one time or another So I was just wonderin'...of course nowadays though it's 'cool' to be Black or into the hip hop scene etc. etc. Or if yer black did you wish you were White at some time???

well i was talking to the Reverend the other day and we believe that over 95% of white ppl have NEVER wished they were black and that well over 50% of blacks have at one time or another wished they were white...so if this thinking is true is Caucasian really the supreme race??? Is white really right???

That would make sense in a way, for a society that is mostly white. A black person may have some advantage if they were white. We don't like racism, but we must acknowledge that it exists. Now, what about white people living in Africa.. I bet they wish they were black more often then those white folks living in NA or Western Europe. I bet any minority in Asia occasionally wishes they were Asian. The fact is human like to belong to groups, and bigger groups are more attractive.
Myself... Hmm, no, I haven't ever wished I was black, but I have wished to understand a black person experience, and therefore have wished to be part of the culture. More as a curiousity than anything. I figure if I have similar experiences as other groups I can better understand where they are coming from. As of now, I cannot pretend to really understand different culture's thinking, and I would like to be able to. Greater understanding leads to greater acceptance and in the long run a more peaceful society. I would like people to stop fighting over trivial things like skin colour, eye shape, etc.

Never have I wanted to be anything other than what I've always been, a black man. Sure there are times when you see the racism running its highest, but that's motivation. I don't believe there is a such thing as a supreme race. I believe that there are things called envy and greed which plague us all. I'm proud to be an American. Why? I'm more of a rain-and-cloudy type of guy and people with more melanin in their skin find it harder to deal with less sunlight--same way the ultra-pale find it hard to deal in constant sun.
Hence why i live in Seattle. And really, i'm content with who I am.
Besdies, how many good black Metal, Goth, and Industrial bands are there? Few, if any--more have black frontmen--and even they are few. Okay, so you have Body Count, Sevendust, Stuck Mojo, and Living Colour....any others that are any good?

Anyhow, no I don't think I've ever wished I was black, on a conscious level.
I'm not really that bent on race distinctions, but I realise there are societal advantages to being white, and as unfair as that is, I can't say that it isn't there.
Actually, I can say that I did in fact wish I wasn't white, but it was more that I didn't stick out so damned much... I was in a restaraunt in Houston where it was mostly blacks (my co-worker was trying to suss out what kind of a honkey I was I guess, I just wanted some good barbeque while I was in Texas). I got stared at because, frankly, I'm 6'2" and at the time about 240 pounds, about as white as KOTL (I can't tan for the life of me.. I don't burn either... I'm odd.. I know). After a few seconds or so I realised that I wasn't the one with the problem, and got on with my meal.
Did I go back? No, I didn't have occasion to. Would I? Hell yes! Great food... and if the clientele is going to get a sandy vagina because a whitey is in their midst, hey, money is green, and I think that's the great equaliser. I'm not a racist, and if they are, again, I'm not the one with the problem.

As for the "race" and "culture" i could give a flying @!#$. No race has any culture whatsoever--we're humans. I was referring to biological characteristics.
I deal better with more northern lattitudes, which get less sun, which means for vitamin D sysnthesis i don't need melanin impeding any sunlight (at the expense of not being able to tolerate large amounts sunlight), and hence, i'd prefer to be "white". If i preferred a lot of sun, i'd rather have lots of melanin for extra protection from the rays (at the expense vitamin D deficinencies in northern latitudes and S.A.D.).
