I installed new Eagle rods and Wiseco pistons in my 02 Ecotec this weekend and now the engine chugs. The pistons are 8.9:1 compression and that is in the only aspect that I changed. I had a piston 2 misfire code just after I did the swap but now it chugs in the low RPMS and it hesitates. What can I do to remedy this?
May be a stupid question, but better to ask and be sure than overlook it and that be your problem. Did you check the orentation of the piston to make sure that the offset of the pin was opposite crankshaft rotation? They should have been marked showing which side went to the front (timing chain side) of the motor.
Other than that IDK what could have been installed wrong. You checked all your tolerances right?

I installed the pistons right. The problem was that I needed new plugs and my timing was off.
Cool, Glad to hear you got everything worked out.

Just out of curiousity, what plugs are you running cavyfan? I used to run the autolite 103's on the stock internaled motor becasue it didn't seem to like the NGK SRT4 Spec plugs. With the lower compression the motor didn't like the autolites so much so now I'm back on stockers until i can order some more NGK's. Just wondering what you were seeing.
And I feel your pain on the cam timing. I didn't get it right till the 2nd time too.

I am waiting on a Patriot Stage II cylinder head now so I have not had a chance to run it with the new plugs. I have NGK iridium 4s for it but i think I am going to go for a set of copper plugs after I get the head and turbo kit on it. Not sure what brand yet.
