Eco Swap , Won't Start

Still working on that 01 Sunfire.

We pulled the old engin and installed the Ecotec from the 03 Sunfire. The swap went pretty smooth, but now the Ecotec engine will not start. The engine cranks over, and It is getting fuel, but it just won't fire.

I've double checked my connections, I checked the fuses under the hood.

I'm drawing a blank.

Is there some kind of safety switch? The car is still up on stands.

Does the computer have to be re-programmed?

We swaped the dash cluster, and the entire exhaust system.

The doner car did not have ABS but the 01 did. (The 03 engine harness did not have the plug ifor the ABS Module), but I can't imagine that would have anything to do with it not starting..

This has got to be something simple.

Any Ideas???

is the theft light flashing ???

thats prob what it is

all you need to replace on the 00-newer is the engine harness , add the eco pcm and bcm , and relearn the theft

yeah id say its the theft systems, thats what it does, if the lights flashing that is what is causing it. When i reolocated my battery i had this problem, try adding a secondary groudn to the frame from the battery, thats what i did and mine hasnt had a problem since.

Dreams do come true....

is the timing right? my timing was off and when we cranked the engine over by hand i tihnk we bent valves and now that the timing is perfect my car wont start either. getting a new head with everything except cams. but i have 2 sets of cams so i'm not worried.

that is after my cam swap tho...and my engine is getting fuel but seems like it doesnt want to fire. it sounds like a broke down car that just wont start when its cold out. i dunno what it is and why my car isnt starting, the valves bent is my guess.

ok people lets think your are all backyard hacks! i am a gm certified tech! ha ha ha j/k the bcm sends the signal for the fuel pump turn on. did u check injector pulse? the ifnition systems are also not the same in the 01's they had either a 2.4 or an old 2.2. you may need to purchase a pcm for the updated engine. if the theft light is not your problem though, if it was on the car would.n't crank and the steering column wouldn;t unlock.
