Hey i have this problem ... 2003 Cav.
ok my "pcv hose" broke and i see oil leaking coming from the engine breather....
it gets stuck in the throttlebody's box
1)Can i put an small air filter right in the breather?
2)Why there is oil coming out from it?
thanks a lot!
Yes one of the "ricer" filters will fit on there, but it will not stop the oil. The best thing is to get a catch can to separate and collect the oil. I ran a filter for about a year and now my engine is covered in it.
yeah it looks ricey but i dont know any other option .. the hose broke..
anyway i dont think oil passing through there isnt normal ....
what i really want is to prevent it
or is it normal?
can you show me a pic of the can installed?
if you buy an aftermarket intake it will take care of that or just replace hose it is normal to get a little blow by mine has the filter on right not but the can would be the best way it will keep your throttle body, hood and engine cleaner
oil catch can installed. works great
Hey fernando, I had that same problem a year ago.
That thing broke off beacuse u stated to get oil in breather tube and it loosened that plastic that its connected to.
It just going to get worst and you r gonna have more and more oil coming out.
I installed catch can and it was fillining up pretty quick.
I read on other forum is that PCV POrt that is located on the intake manifold under the throttle body is blocked,
It was common issue with this vehicals,
Gm even recomonended that pcv hole is to small and they made a kit that is going to make that hole little bigger.Since all the gasses and oil can`t vent through PCV ,it start to come out one the breather hose,
Trust me it is gonna get much worse.
i fixed it some weeks ago!
you just have to remove the valve cover and give it a heavy cleaning,
heavy duty industrial degreaser and a scrub works perfect,
1) rinse with water
2) spray a lot of heavy duty degreaser and let it seat for some minutes
repeat this process numerously until you see that clear water comes out freely from all the holes
this will allow the oil to run freely once installed back
(change oil & oil filter too)
also painted it since it was already unistalled for cleaning

did u reuse valve cover gasket or u got new one
nah!
if you carefully remove the valve cover when prying it out, the stock gasket will be good to re-use
(at least didn't need to replace mine, it was in good condition.)
trust me, mine wasn't that bad and had the oil coming through the breather.
i've seen jobs we've done here at PR that underneath the valve cover were just speechless-nasty....
commonly this happens when you don't change your oil & oil filter regularly ( 3k miles / 3 months )
it gets clog and blocks the oil from running freely
I just picked up a 10 catch can off ebay and it works great no more oil in my intake.
yes, that could catch oil that isn't supposed to be coming out from there.
i had it for like 2 months, made a mess.
1)take the valve cover out
2)clean it with heavy duty degreaser to unclog all holes
3)mount it back
4)no oil coming out from breather
trust me on this one.
