I HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH OIL TO PUT INTO MY 2005 CAVALIER 2.2 AUTOMATIC I DRAINED THE OIL AND PUT 4 LITRES AND THE LEVEL WAS BELOW THE MIN MARK ... THE OWNERS MANUAL SAYS I NEED 3.8 LITRES (4 QUARTS) WELL I ADDED 600 ML MORE OIL AND NOW THE LEVEL IS ABOUT 1/2 FULL ... I MEAN I KNOW THE OWNERS MANUAL PROBABLY ISNT WORTH THE PAPER IT WAS WRITTEN ON BUT WHATS GOING ON HERE ?
My Pontiac Grand Am owners manual says 5.5 quarts. It's too much.
Try 5 quarts.
The same misprint is in the manual (Canadian) for my 2004 Cavalier with 2.2 Ecotec. General Motors Canada says the vehicle takes 4.8L. I do my own oil changes and have been using one 4.73L jug of Pennzoil (yellow bottle) per oil change.
^^^ Yup! Just under 5 Qts.
i always just buy the 1gal bottle of mobil 1 syn. its the same as 5qts,
mine takes 5qts to the last drop every time
the L61 and L42 both take exactly 5 qts US. If your dipstick reads different with this much oil just mark it so its accurate at this oil level.

i put 5 in and it always reads that theres not enough on the stick
I would say put oil in it till it is at the spot the dipstick says....
167,000 on an Ecotec since 02
1 gallon is 4 qts didnt you pass 6th grade home ec.?
