I have one of the first "300"hp Ariel Atoms. I had a Rod knock that required a complete engine tear down. now with the motor apart the crank is scared and the rod will need replacing or remachined.
since the vehicle was built in 2005 I was investigating if any sensable upgrades are out there for this motor. The Atom no long comes with a GM motor.
I was considering piston and rod upgrades because the OEM pistons and rods are not reliable after 6800 RPM. my thought is upgrading these would prevent a future tear down..
I am looking for a good source for a crank as well.

It's the 2.0L supercharged engine right? If so the that is the same engine that came in the Cobalt SS/SCs and Ion Redlines. Any of their internals will work.
