I'm looking for info on the 09 cobalt 2.2 ecotec. I have a 06 cobalt ls 2.2 that i race on a circle dirt track. I have a 09 cobalt parts car available. The 09's 2.2 has a 2.4 vvt head on it. Would it be worth it to put the 2.4 head from the 09 on the 06 2.2. I have the computer and harness out of the 09. I would think it's just a bolt on, besides the harness. I don't know if there would be any real hp gains. I also need to know if using an auto computer in a 5 speed will help or hurt performance. Thanks

You will get a bigger gain from aftermarket cams than swapping heads. The VVT will give you more problems than gains.

Is there a way to play with the timing in these, like moving the gears a tooth forward or back?

There are adjustable cam gears for the 2.2l cams, but im not 100% sure they can swap to different engines.
