iv been having trubble figuring out what is wrong with my car for half a year when the check engine came on it was a month or two after i got my new cat converter. altho it has nothing to do with the cat. The code show that o2 sensor 1 is defect or has encounter a problem somewhere were it not getting the right signal. when the code first came on i replace both o2 sensor and nothing.
i have an 02 cavalier with 2.2 ecotec, custom intake, tusdo header, magnaflow cat and exhaust. everything stock and spark plugs are new. i look at the sematic (wire diagram) it show to have a fuse for the sensor and i cant find it. hope fully i dont have a short or open in the wire. has anyone encounter this problem. (po171 and po141 are similar) (not the same with 2.2 ohv)
I would suggest getting a flow chart and pinpointing the problem, ohm the wires and make sure there isnt a short or excessive resistance
i have the same problem and it actually is the cat...its getting a code cause the o2 after the cat is getting wrong readings....look in to a CEL fix or something alone those lines...only a couple bucks
