As far as gaining power, it all depends on what kind of air / fuel you're running currently and how well it's being tuned. Do you have a wideband or are you sending your vehicle to a professional dyno shop to have this done?

my cars ECU and stuff is all stock i just wanted to know if i could do this myself or would i have to have someone else set it

It's a universal unit but if I were you, I'd purchase HP Tuners. You have more control with it.
