What cams can I get for my 2.2l without having to replace other internals. I want to upgrade my cam but at the moment dont have the funds to go to crazy doing a lot of interanl upgrades. I'm just looking for a good cam to add a little bit to my car without going to crazy. Anyone have any input on this?
You don't have to replace anything when getting camshafts UNLESS something was physically wrong in the first place.

How mush lift / duration is safe on a stock ecotec engine b/4 valves start crashing the pistons?
Honestly I don't know. When valves start hitting the pistons when the valve spring isn't compressing and decompressing properly or the timing is off. Usually #2 will happen right away.

its always a good idea to replace your valve spring with stronger ones whenever your going with a higher performance cam
