Hi guys!
Just want to ask something. My car is a 1998 Sunfire SE and it has close to 180 000 km on her, transmission is acting like a little " biznitch " and the best part, it's paid for! Thing is, I love my car. I don't want to sell it and buy something else and be in debt again. So I was thinking of swapping for an Ecotec engine and tranny. I know a few car part shops around my area that sell them but most of them come from scrapped cars that were involved in accidents but engine was never touched like a rear-end accident or something. Anyway, I do belive that some people here had it done and I want to know what's involved. Besides the engine, tranny and computer, what's involved? What were your total cost? I really don't know what I should be asking right now. It's just the fact that I love my car, I do not want to part with it and I'm sure a new engine is a lot less expensive than a new car.
Tell me what you think, your suggestions, your concerns.
P.S: I you want to flame or disrespect, please do it somewhere else.

Well you could probably get a used car with an ecotec in it for 8K or less.
Now figure all the time it's going to take
All the parts you need
All the custom work that needs to be done
You could search the performance forum on j-body.org for "ecotec swap" to see if it's worth it.
^^Home made sig^^ ghetto, I know.
