More specifically, what I want to know is:
Is the 2.2L Ecotec in the 2004 Saturn Ion the identical motor that is in the 2004 J-body's??
The reason I ask is that my brother just bought a 2004 Ion and I want to get him an intake or something as a gift and I just want to make sure that if I order a part and it says it is for an Ecotec powered Cavalier, I want to make sure it will fit/work on his car.
Even more specifically, AEM lists a CAI for the Ecotec powered J-body's, but not the Ion. Will that intake work? Does anyone here have it?
Where are some other good places to get some simple bolt-ons that will work on the Ion?
Thanks in advance.
I think the 2.2L ecotec in the ion is a watered-down version of the ecotec in J-bodies...
i think the specs are 140hp 140tq
so its more fuel-effiecient than the eco in js
AEM has a Cold Air intake for IONs
I saw them put one on an ION on speedchannel, so there should be one available...

The engine is the same, but the externals may not be. The IAT sensor may be in a different location, the Ion may use Electronic Throttle Control, etc... So most "bolt-ons" may work, but may require fabrication to get them to fit.

There a few differences..IONS have the intake on the other side of the engine, so any intakes will NOT fit them...do a search in google for "twistec performance" they make Saturn ion parts, and have a ecotec turbo system. <br>

^^ Thanks for the site, although they don't really have too many parts.
Does anyone else know of any good sites to order parts for it?
I mean the turbo is great, but since this is a gift, I only want to spend about 500 bucks.
so does this mean that the ecotec in the grand am is the same as well???
