I was thinking if a 2.4 ecotec head fits our 2.2's ?
Any suggestions?
looking into the same thing. i am having one of the 2.4L heads being shipped to me as we speak, will let you know.
there will definitely be some ECU issues, wont be an easy swap.
ThnX man, I appreciate your help
When are ou gonna get that efffin head?
I wanna get one tooooooo
that should be gain of 27 hp
!!!
because 2.4 ecos are 167 hp stock
and 2.2's are 140
so I figured 27 hp should be right there with the head
hehe
well, thnX again
Let me know asap
i had asked that before-i'm curious but i thought the 2.4's were pushin 174hp? i thought it was around 16-sumptin torque
"I can't believe you are doin all this to a Cavalier!"-Everybody Else
"Hey-at least its not a damn civic!!"-ME
177hp, 166lb-ft for the one used in the solstice, wouldnt expect those numbers if the head is able to be modified for the 2.2L though
As for parts go.... The LE5 has to connectors on the PCM and other connections that the L61 doesn't. So, for sure you will need an engine harness, PCM, TCM (trans control module).
The nuetral safety backup switch connections are different, so the that switch would be different as well.
Transmission connectors are different, but the catalog says trans. are same for all engines, not sure about that.
Inline to body connections are different.
The under hood fuse junction block connectors are the same, so I think that should be ok.
Since this a brand new engine; good luck on salvage parts. I know from my L61 swap that finding engine harnesses without the engine or being cut, at a salvage yard is next to impossible. Even more so if it's a manual transmission. Engine & fuel rail harnesses, PCM, and TCM lists for almost $1000. Even at employee discount, it still is almost $600.
LOL, thats the most retarded thing ive ever heard. i dont suppose the extra power comes from the INCREASED DISPLACEMENT or the tune...
sorry... but that was too funny.
haha, Loring Smith, very funny!
The point was to increase combustion chamber to burn more fuel, more fuel burned equals more hp; that's how I see it.
Period.
increasing combustion chamber volume DOESNT increase swept volume.
in fact, all is does is DECREASE compression ratio. PERIOD.
hope you have some boost lined up for that thing.
