anyone know when it becomes necessary to invest in a tranny cooler with an automatic transmission? i realize that regardless it will increase tranny life and reduce heat but when is it really necessary? Also wondering if anyone has installed one on a 2.2 yet because i'm considering getting one in the near future. I have a history of tranny failure and im just trying to avoid this from the beginning.
Automatic or manuel trans ? Automatic transmissions have a higher failure rate due to overheating, coolers are good when extreme weather conditions are met, or when pulling an extra load behind the vehicule. Both a cooler and an oil filter are recommended with extreme uses.
Sorry a/t was in the title, should have read the message better before answering.
I just got a tranny cooler for mine. It was given to me and was wondering the same thing as Jeremy
. Im setting mine up for the drag strip but was still wondering if i really needed it. My car is an A/T too.
