I picked up a used '05 Sunfire last month. It's got just over 37,000 miles on it. Everything's completely stock, no aftermarket intakes or exhaust work done. (Automatic trans, btw)
Driving around town, I'm getting roughly 19-20mpg, and around 29 on the highway. That seems a bit low to me, seeing as the sticker on the car claimed 26/36.
Am I getting close to what others are? Need some real-world advice!
i get about the same as you and my gf gets about the same so i wouldnt expect much more than that
Thanks! I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something horribly wrong with my new car!
I have an Ion with the 2.2L, still stock. Now, I never know if you use american or imperial galons in your mpg data, so I'll give you my data in SI units.
city: 11L/100km (21mpg, american)
highway: 8L/100km (29mpg, american)
This is more than I expected. Natural Resources Canada stated 9.6 (24.5mpg) and 6.1 (38.5mpg) (and about the same for Sunfire)... but their tests are done in laboratory, at 20 deg. C, and on rollers (no wind drag).
