Hi guys,
I just received my new 16V Head, complete with cams, valves and lifters.
Im gonna do some work on it to gain some power.
this is what i had in mind,
Port head, inlet and outlet
Skimming the head for higher compression
Smooth (Gasflow) the head internerls
Valve edges (3point)
Stainless steel valves
Cutting the standard cams to advance timeing, just a mild cut...
Branch and exhaust... better flow
Fuel Management System to move limiter up to 7500rpm and manage fuel
Aiming for 130KW... But i suspect i can get more from this head
BTW its 99KW standard, What sort of gains do you guys suspect i can get ?
And what can i do to improve the performance ?
power wise i can not give you a number but, the one thing i would not do is shave the head to raise compression, will throw of the chain tension and may bring valves to close, i would change pistons, and that can be done with motor in car, that is how i did mine. also i would have the head treated with coatings, not much power gains if any but it will be insurance against destination and help air charge stay cooler and exhaust energy stay in exhaust and not as much heat soak into head. also you might want cam gears, yes pain to adjust cause oiled and have to remove cam cover, but alot cheaper than cutting the cams, and gm can usually tell you were to set it from the door, but at least the cam cover gasket is reusable. anyway just my thoughts, good luck
Milling the head might cause a negative effect when it comes to your timing chain and how much slack there might be. It's not an effective way...do it properly by changing your pistons and getting taller ones.
What fuel management are you trying to use?

I have 2 options for the fuel management.. Either the PERFECT POWER fuel management or the Gotech Pro EMI
I dont know if you get these 2 Management systems there where you are.. Most popular here in SA
For the 16V they reccomend the Perfect Power.. it will b a stand alone system... Piggyback wont work on my box apparently
Thx for the advice... wont skim the head then...
You're welcome.
