Ive got a 91 Quad442 calais 2.3ho 5spd with typical bolt ons--chip, pulleys, centerforce clutch, and intake (all from mantapart) and hombrew ac eliminator also stripped interior
Also an 05 Cavalier 2dr 5spd 2.2eco Bone stock
Timeslips dont lie
Cavalier averages between 9.90 and 9.98 in the 1/8th
Calais averages between 9.85 and 10.30 <---always more inconsistent
I can braket race the Cav all night and never be more than about 4 hundreths off each pass
Calais is more fun to drive, but the Cav is quicker and more comfortable
I think you can chock the difference up to better gearing in the Cav though
Id like to know if anyone has had similar experiences
2.3HO's have 180hp PLUS those mods. He must suck at driving.....
1971 camaro 427 --- here!
Stock... and loving every minute of it.
Just in case you have never driven a 2.3car, in my calais, 1st and 2nd gear will pull way harder than the cavalier eco, but when you shift into 3rd in the calais it dumps it way out of the powerband and is geared way too long, just goes to show the advantage of having the gearing matched to the powerband

Hey mr 2.2L ECOTEC
In you car profile you have your 71 trans am listed as having a 700R4 3spd,
the 700R4 is a 4 speed, overdrive does count as a gear
