Thinking of buying either the b&m shift plus or the auto trans interceptor. What is the differences between then and which is easier to install. Will i see any gains form them if so is it enough to justify the money spent, in college and what little extra money i have i put in to my car. any information will be greatly appreciated thanks.
B&M Shiftplus: $40/ Somewhat Easy Install / Not Large Gains But Noticeable / Adjustable From Drivers Seat
AutoTrans Interceptor: $100+/ Very Easy Install / Not Sure About Gains / Have To Adjust From Under The Hood
I have the B&M Shiftplus and it works perfectly fine, i'm not sure about the gains on the AutoTrans Interceptor because obviously I don't have it but if you look on the .org, you'll find countless topics/disputes about both of them. Whether it is how to install or which one out-numbers the other in a pro/con situation.

to be honest,i have the autotransintercepter and it's was easy to install,gains,well that seems like apples and oranges i wish i would have gotten the b&m shiftplus due to being able to change the settings from in the car instead of a small screw driver and opening my hood to make the changes,but with the b&m it seems to be the better option,cheaper and more of a convience
if at first you don't succeed,you should probably give up
What kind of car did you put the B&M ShiftPlus on if you don't mind me asking.
I put my B&M Shiftplus on my 2003 Cavalier.

The B&M is a lot less money, does just about the same thing. Just doesnt have the fine tuning that the autotrans offers.

Ease of changing settings goes to b&m.
I have the interceptor, never really saw a need to change the setting while driving, its not that big of an aggravation to get under the hood and change it. The interceptor takes seriously about 2 minutes to install, but it costs more. If your not comfortable with wiring I would not go with b&m, since you have to tap into the harness. And if you need to take your car into the dealership for warranty service its really easy to take out the interceptor and put on a dumb look and say "I dont know how that happened."
Just my 2 cents, but I would go with the interceptor, never, ever had a problem with it.

If you have 4T40E Automatic tranny you can use the interceptor.
I'm not sure what tranny's they put in Cobalts.
Get Hp Tuners and you will have trans and the whole pcm to play with!
Dont waste your money on the interceptor crap.

I have ran with it (BM shift) on and off. It will be almost impossible to notice difference in times, seeings how so many things play a part. BUT, if i were to bet anything, I think about 1 or 2tenths max. Oh yeah, if you have a lot of power, I would use the .. setting. WOW what mess. tranny slip something awful. Setting one seems to be the harder shift of the 2 settings. at least for me.

it helps the tranny shift harder, when you make your car faster you will notice the slow shifting settings of the auto transmission slowing you down... the shifting is electronically controlled which allows us to make it faster via hptuners, b&m shiftplus, or the autotrans interceptor
