Hey all, tried posting this on JBO, but didn't get any replies that really helped me out at all. I got the RKSport upper engine mount for my '02 Ecotec about two weeks ago, but no one seems to know where to jack the engine up while removing the old mount. Most common reply is to use a 2x4 between the jack and the oil pan, but being in Germany, if the pan gets messed up doing this, I'm left with no car for at least a couple weeks while I'm waiting on a new one. Does anyone know the proper way to jack up the engine, or have a service manual that says/shows how to do it?
its not even mention in the instructions ???
Well for starters RKspot does not include detailed instructions, one of there many faults. I have the upper and lower mounts on my car and installed them myself. Use a 2X4 between the jack and oil pan, the idea is to relieve pressure on the mount, trust me this is safe as long as you do not try to jack up the full weight of the car using this method. Remember you just want to relieve enough pressure to replace the mount.

Yeah, RKSport's instructions tend to suck when it comes to being detailed. The ones they sent with my intake were absolutely horrible.
Well, guess the next time I've got a day off, I'll just have to give the 'ol 2x4 trick a try and hope I don't mess anything up.
im sorry but if you need detailed instructions to install a intake you shouldnt be installing one. i made one myself. now if i try to tell someone else its kinda hard cause its not all made up. you gotta make you own bends in the tubing. but for something like RKS intake you just put the pieces together and clamp them. not that hard. could prob be done by a blind, deaf, and dumb monkey in 10min <br>
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. but how are the vibs?
I just did this mod to my new 04. It does vibrate quite a bit, and at low rpms on my automatic its rumbles like a beast. I noticed a big difference right after putting the mount in. Its also looks very well made, very thick.
I would suggest having a few extra people with you as my engine moved back when I did it, even when I jacked the engine up. we had to pull the engine forward and put in the bolts again.
Or stick a screw driver in the opposing bolt hole that you are trying to line up and line it up that way rather than tuggin!!
hey guys how much time off your quarter mile have you noticed? And what sucks so bad about the stock ones....did you guys know they were designed like that so if you got in a bad wreck your motor would fall out the bottom for your j-body?
