For the 2.2L Ecotecs what should I do first I wanan get a lot of power out of this motor but I really have no idea where to srarty after the Intake ./... and I'm lookign for an exhaust form a SS/SC just the cat-bal form one and I wanna stick it on my LT.... possible?
just get the one thats made for the 2.2...i would recommend borla or magnaflow for our motor the cheaper ones sound so bad

Before buying any car parts, I'd buy some books and learn about engines and how they operate. Also good to learn about how modern day computers operate as well.

Well what I would do 1st is ditch my torsion bar and grab me up an Independent rear suspension....like a Grand Am...ya it may be heaver but the independent rear makes up for it....but since your stuck with your torsion bar...here is what I would do...1st thing I would get is some Polly trans mounts...there about $60-$85 and very simple to install....1st you jack the car up...remove the rear mount 1st ...then put it on a vice...there are 4 tabs that you just knock in with a punch....and then you simply hit it with a hammer till it comes out....next step is to grab your self the poly mount...put the grease that comes with it on the end that the instructions tell you to put it on....put it in a vice...make sure you back the poly with something flat that covers it so when you try to press it in the poly stays flat....it may take a few times to line it up...but make sure the bottom goes in b-4 the top and when you get it 1/2 in start pulling the mount around to get it in...if you excite it right you can get the poly to basically Pop in....it is not hard at all...make sure you put the sleeve in the right mount one is longer...and if you are doing this on a grand am or an alero..you have to drill the center out of the bushing to get the bolt to go through....I will have a video up of the install in a few days...next thing you want to do is get an intake....don’t go for AEM goose neck....its expensive and is not worth a lick....I recommend a Cosmo racing one...and also there short throw shifter....much smother shifts...I do not like the b&m one....also after you get your self a nice intake and a short throw shifter....go out and get your self an exhaust....I would say if you can handle the noise...get your self 2 1/2 in from the manifold back with a high flow cat...keep it legal...and a Magnaflow...straight through mufflers are way better for performance...don’t get a resonator that just slows up the flow of the exhaust and your performance suffers...I do not think you need one in most states to pass inspections...I would check it out 1st...I would not recommend getting any headers unless they are nice ones...there is no point in spending $150+ on a set of pacesetters that don’t even flow that much better then the stock ones....I do recommend headers...just nice flowing ones....the head has allot of back pressure do to the chamber cutouts on the head...so if you can get yourself a nice flowing 4-1 system it would be a nice improvement....unless your planning on running a turbo...then just stick with the exhaust manifold....just some poly mounts intake and exhaust...and some decent tires should drop you down to the low 15's maybe in 14's if your quick on the clutch and you know how to launch....b-4 you go any further with mods you need to do up your suspension...make that back stiff...2 shocks on a torsion bar does not cut it when your tryin to make power....remember the dyno doesn't show losses you get in your suspension....if your looking for any kind of speed you will gain most of it off the start with your suspension...and freeing up some of that pent up HP's....after you get that done...and b-4 you go into turbo I would say get your self a good P&P...if you take a look at my car domain...you can see my head...I ported and polished it....http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2119503
Things to look for when you get a P&P 1st of all Flow is everything....you want good atomization....and you need a head that can do that...you need to intake to be a semi ruff finish...good flowing ports...and you need a good balance of swirl and tumble....also the combustion chamber needs to be a mirror finish...the more heat reflected back into the burn and not absorbed by the head the more power you can make...and w/ less heat...that means less chance of detonation....and also mirror finish in ...the hotter you can keep the gasses the faster they can go....and the faster they can go the more power you can make...the exhaust ports also need to be good flowing...and knife edged on the port divider....but one of the most important thing is matching the ports with the manifolds...esp. on the intake side...if your intake manifold ports are just as small as they were...well you did not get any gains in enlarging the ports...in fact you most likely lost some power dew to the improper air flow...and the mounds of turbulence any ridge makes that close to the intake valve....
