I am a new owner of a 2004 Sunfire with the 2.2 Ecotec.
This is my question:
On a budget, what are the first things I should do to increase the performance of my car and still keep the warranty intact? I know I need tires for handling but what other tricks can I use?
Bear in mind that a CAI and exhaust package are under consideration but I'm looking for other things.
I hear that better engine mounts can recover lost torque. True or False?
Anybody that can help is welcome to weigh in on this and email me if you'd like!
Thanks!

True, motor mounts will recover some lost torque, but you will have to live will vibtrations in the inside of your car. here's a little list of things you can:
cold air intake
straight through muffler (perforated, not louvered)
hi-flow cat
larger exhaust piping I recomend 2 1/2
lightweight crank pulley*
Port and polish*
nitrous*
turbocharger*
supercharger*
lightweight rims, hood, trunk, etc....
synthetic oil (kind of expensive)
any way of making your car light by removing spare, seats, carpet
if your car is manual you can get a B&M shifter
that's all I can think of right now
as far as the warranty goes anything with a star will probably void it not sure about the pulley though. hopefully that helped a little <br>

Mods...
BFG Drag Radials
Saab Turbo kit
2.5 exhaust, w/cutout
Spec Stage 2+ Clutch
If you're on a budget then here are a few things available:
B and M shifter for about $140
Weapon r intake for about $150
Pacesetter or weapon r header for about 170-240 depending on coating. (ceramic coating is ideal)
You could just throw a muffler on and do the rest of the exhaust later.
Motor mounts, spend about 160 for both
Lowering springs are also recommended for about 200
Check out gravanatuning.com as they carry almost everything
as for the warranty: do a search for the moss-magnuson warranty act, or something like that. It will explain everything you need to know about warranty issues.
Have fun with the fire.
you might want to go with a 2.25 exhaust unless you are definetely adding a turbo or supercharger.....just my $.02 though.........
i agree with blue akro04 i have 2.25 for a little more torque then a 2.50. and a drop will help with launching allot i hit a 15.4 1/4 with no seats, no spare, stock 15s, and a custom ram cold air, and cat back
