If the cobalt gets the 2.4 eco....would the sunfire get it as well even though technically they are not sister cars anymore? opinions since obviously im sure no one knows for sure yet
Has anyone confirmed yet that the Sunfire will indeed linger an extra year alongside the Cobalt and Canada-only Pursuit?
If so, it probably wouldn't be hard to drop the new engine in it.
Until I actually see one produced though, I won't hold my breath. Sadly, I've grown accustomed to GM showing off cool concepts in the j-body world and then never producing them.
My fingers are crossed though for a boosted j-body to be made before their demise!
I would love a 2.4L ecotec. All them darn LD9 owners would shut then...lol.If they did it I would so own one.
I ain't callin u a gold digga,but you ain't messin wit a broke cracka
i really wonder how much it would take to drop it in. Figure it would be like the old 2.2 to 24 conversion, or cause of that VVT it'll be a beast?
now how about a 2.4 V V T in the 05 with the GMPP Eco s/C, now that would be BOING!

I definetly would have got it on my 03' if it was available
If the plant that currently builds J bodies is being converted to build D-bodies, how can the Sunfire be built past 2004? I don't believe they can split the assembly line?
Hey, Ecofire, you tellin me to shut up? lol. I'd like to test drive the new Cobalt with a 2.4 ECO. with 170 HP and 170 ftlbs, it should be a nice ride as long as the weight is comparable to our J-body platforms. I could see a no-frills Cobalt with only the 2.4 option pulling a high 14 stock. But GM probably won't offer the Cobalt with manual windows and no AC.
Sunfires are not being built as of about a week ago so I read in a newspaper on the org.
No more Sunfire in Canada. Last production was the 2004. The Pursuit will replace it.
Like the Cavalier.
I believe GM plans on moving production of the Sunfire to Mexico.
There is still 2005 Sunfires in Canada, my mom bought one yesterday
the pontiac pursuit? anyone have any link for this?
AZ J-BODY
biker cops can be such d!cks at times
I doubt any jbody will see the 2.4, it would be nice, but the "new" engines will be in the soltice, and other kappa's. Gm probably doesnt consider it worth their time (online petition anyone?)
It would be awesome if they did it (are you listening GM) it wouldnt cost them too much to test and trial it, and then the sunfy, and jbodys can go out with a bang.
I have a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire. It has the 2.2 Ecotech in it. If anybody know how to keep the valve covers clean let me know. my car has 1,250 miles and it looks like it has 25K on it. If anybody know how please e-mail me at onehellaredneck@aol.com or mile8vsskarface@aol.com/
Thanks Anthony
Anthony:
Sanding and polishing the valve cover is one way to keep it clean and eye catching. You can do it yourself without removing it or you can remove the entire valve cover and give it a profesional treatment which will give you the best results. Use an extra fine sanding device and then a good polishing product to get it shiny. Just be carefull testing first. You also can read the following post to get some ideas. Hope it will help.
