What kinda gains are to be expected? RK's catalog says hp/tq increases, but not how much or what to expect. Any help would be great.
I couldn't honestly see the gains being any more than 5-6 HP at the wheels.
well brandoson had the rk on his car and when he took it off he reallu noticed how much slower his car was a the motor never rev'd like id did with the header
I Have it on Now, but its not welded on so I can't really feel the gains...yet.
I just got my muffler in the mail, I'm gonna take it to an exhaust shop and get full piping (w/ cat of course) pretty soon, I'd say by next weekend for sure.
I can't wait to hear this puppy roar!

I love mine... my gains were huge from mid range to top end, I really think its worth it... and more then 5-6 hp.. unless 5 hp gies that much bigger a kick in the pants... but thats just a butt dyno
LE61T PTE6262 Powered
the weapon R is a close copy of rk sports and according to a eco tec owner , it fits better
Phil... got dyno sheets?
my friend brandon had the rk took it off cause it fit poorly , and his cav was never the same
the motor rev'd so much smoother !!!!!!!
I've had the Weapon-R header on for about 3 months now. It definately made a BIG increase much smoother rev's. And I would have to say it made more than 5 or 6 Hp. As far as fitment it doesnt hit anywhere. Definately worth the money.

You might want to consider keeping you cat, if you have a GT you should already have a high-flow cat 02 Ecos and GTs did, your might. Upgrading the piping is great thats what I did (2.25), but also if you keep the cat you still have your emmissions under warrantee.

Notice I said "w/ cat" not "w/o cat"
Here in Cali its illegal to remove or replace a functioning cat so I'm SOL there....
But I'm still deciding either 2.25" or 2.5" from header back....
I'll have to figure it out by this weekend!

Oh ok, from your first post it seemed like you were going to replace the cat, not remove it altogether.
Don't get it twisted!
My car should be out of the shop tomorrow so I may do it up sooner....

Tell me how you like the exhaust, what muffler are you using?
Your out of luck, the drag cars you speak of are front wheel drive. The NHRA drag Cavaliers are v8. Even the Saturn Vue is FR and its an SUV.
You'd be looking at a custom set up.

Are you sayin I have a HIGH FLOW CAT already? if so thanks, another $200 I can keep in my pocket.
I think they just meant it was a higher flowing cat than what the 2200 OHV models would have. You're still going to want to dump the stock one.
I got my exhaust on and my header welded up finally.
And man......I don't remember my car being this fast! It may be just that all my mods are coming together now so I feel a big gain.
And Damn I love it!
heres a pic of
my exhaust
I give it 2 thumbs up!
the looks pretty nice , you need the up level rear bumper know
hows it sound ??? and you got any better pics of how its mounted ?? and did you do a cat back ???
what do you mean, "up level" bumper? Like a kit?
If anything, I'd get a lip kit like on the 95-02 sunfires have but that'd be it. Besides a c/f hood.
And I ended up just getting a cat-back, the header goes pretty much to the cat so I kept the stock cat w/ sensor pipe, so if I ever decide to gut the cat, I can simply unbolt it.
It sounds good Its really growing on me.
It sounds even better when its warmed up. WOW.
after I got it I was smiling all the way home! lol
And the exhaust guy did up some hangers onto the stock rubber hangers and it fits nice. Homeboy was impressed
He charged me $140 for the whole job.
I'll see about getting more pics tomorrow...
doesnt the s/f rear bumper for the 03-04 havea different lower area around the exhaust ???
I'm thinking of getting the WR header from Racetech, I'm not sure if it will fit though because my car is a Grand Am, although I do have an Eco. I know it'll fit on the motor but I dunno if I'll have clearence and so forth.
My other question is will it make the car much louder, I would think so?
ecotecpower has the WR header, said it fit OK. Mine fit too...with some modifications (banging, bending, etc...)
And putting a header on your car will definently make it louder. I had the header on with stock exhaust and it still roared!
BTW I got some more pics of my exhuast
pic 1 pic 2 pic 3
I don't think they changed the lower area around the exhuast for the 03+...
The exhaust guy told me I'd be better off running two mufflers like stock, but It fit better than even he thought it would.
I might get a resonator too.... I'd like it to sound a bit smoother.....
.....I get some popping when I hold gears....
other than that awesome!
