What have you done and how much hp gain?
Saturday, October 22, 2005 1:33 AM
Curious as to what kind of aftermarket parts are being installed on our pretty little cars as well as the effects.

So what have you put into your cars and what kind of results did you see.

I have (only at 6500 rpm mind you) almost doubled my horsepower to equal 280 horses. At 5200 I have attained an average of 269 on three dyno tests. My upgrades at peak performace being 280, I assume work out like this: 3" Dual Carbon Fiber Exahust 25HP...Air Intake Spacer 12HP...CAI 8HP...Ceramic Headers 15HP...Zex Wet Kit 75HP...Engine Original Power...145HP. I know these all sound like high numbers, but my car is a 2005 with less than 12000 miles on it, and with all of these parts being brand new working together as they should, I pulled a little more power than an older car may have with the newer parts forcing power aginst older parts, if you know what I mean

here is what i fond so far
K$N has a dyno sheet for its typhoon CAI 5 hp
Magnaflow has catback and its dyno sheet says 6hp
Bills isuzu performance has a header and Dyno sheet 5hp(not sure)

I guess to the wheels with all this stuff added it would 131 hp to the front wheels
but we all know it never works like that.
I have a feeling that these cars need boost or Nitrous to realy be Fun

LOL you are not getting gains like this- Air Intake Spacer 12HP...CAI 8HP...Ceramic Headers 15HP

Try headers 7-9 hp at the most
Intake Maybe -6-8 with supporting mods
Air Intake Spacer you mean t/b spacer???? 12hp

Well, I'm not lame enough to start an internet argument so I will reply one time with this simple statement. At 6500 rpm, I have 280 HP. The box of the throttle body spacer I purchased said gains up to 15 at peak power, therfore 12 is possible. I didn't dyno my car after each part I only did it once after it was completely finished so I guess individual gains off of what the box they came in stated. Check my profile, see my mods and call the individual companies. I'm not gonna be able to say EXACT gains for each mod, but my guesses are supported by the dyno test. All headers advertise 10-15 peak gains. 10-12 is the lowest I've seen. Intakes are advertised as 5.5-8. Intake spacers are advertised as 8-15. 3" Carbon Fiber exahust are advertised with 2 1/4 pipes as 7-12 a piece. I have 2 with 3" pipe. My wet kit is 75 and maybe a little more. this is a brand new car. This is all I'm saying. laugh at me and call me cuss words but I have 280 at 6500.

Wow 280 Horsepower on stock rods with nitros I am supprised you havn't holed the block because the rods are only good (in gm's own tests) for 283hp at the crank so if you are getting 280 at the wheels you are driving on borrowed time.

- you think you are going to get the gains that the Company says? Very Doubtful! LOL why don't you get the Next Level Performance chip that will get you atleast 15 hp there.

Your correct Internet arguments are just dumb so to end all arguments prove your right by showing your dyno sheets. I believe what i see. Have you taken it to the track? How are those motors mounts holding up. i like how you estimate 2 mufflers give you more power. Hack the damn things off and you'll see more power. Maybe 35+ hp.(insert sarcasm here) and maybe that fin you put on your car gave you a quick easy 50hp well at least thats what the company said. and this motor does not peak at redline. Look at any dyno sheet from any ecotec; power is mostly attained at 5k area. Your numbers are off and so are you obviously. I can handle an intake giving you 5hp. Thats been proven. An intake spacer for 12hp ha right. Well i guess everyone is wrong cause the "box said so" Sounds like a syllogism if you ask me. but thats just my two cents. And if you are making 280hp good for you just don't talk like those things brought in that much power unless you have the dyno sheet to prove it. If you want real power look to the pictures below Oh and if you've never seen a conrod through the oil pan dont worry that 280hp will soon comeback to haunt you and you'll get to see what fine chunks of metal come from your motor. Enjoy!

No no!!! he should buy a leaf blower and duct tape it to his o so powerful intake and rig up a string to the hood thats tied down with a bunjee and open that bad boy up when he wants 1psi in that manifold for a whopping 25 hp. sorry this is killing me i have a hard time typing. here this is for all your enjoyment dont hold your breath if this kid tries it

I have 280 crank geniuses. Check the airaid website to see dyno sheets of 21+ hp gains. The spoiler helps immensely in handeling. Thats what spoilers are for. At 5200 a stock eco is 140hp at 6500 145. You're all silly.

That's 210 at the wheels if you were wanting to hate some more

I appreciate your feedback, even if these others dont.

Thanks

oh yeah im sorry here you go heres the dyno sheet we have all been waiting for. Maybe after studying this you'll see where your wrong. Check what car they are dynoing. Maybe you'd be better apt at looking what size motor that is. Bigger displacement is going to result in larger gains for the same part obviously. 5.3 liter gain 12hp i can handle that but our motor is a 2.2. Less than half so maybe 3-5 hp max. ??? just curious how often does your spoiler help you when you can go 107 in a straight line does it plant your ass end down and make more drag. Just curious. Have you had it put in an air tunnel for proper downforce when you need it???

Heres the airaid dyno off a 5.3 tahoe and below it is a real dyno sheet off a cavalier as we can all see peak power is achieved at about 5600 rpm ending all arguments about when peak power is achieved and how you are wrong about your gains from your 2.2 liter with a throttle spacer and every other comment you have made. But ill believe you once you get one of these nifty little braggin rights such as down below. And if you do have 280hp whats your best quarter mile time.

This is what torque does.

hey what was the original topic? What have YOU done and how much HP gain

If he's lying, thats his problem not everyone elses. Its his car, his choice to reply, and if those numbers are fabricated.....who cares? One post calling him on B.S would have been enough. We all have to use our own judgement for listening to what people tell you about modifications. Personally i have spotted endless false advice, false claims and been given false information on here before.
So now please, there seem to be a lot of people that have made some interesting modifications to their cars and i would like to hear about it. Can we please get back on track?
I see a lot of people posting on here calling this guy down that i havent seen before, how about you tell me whats in your car. That was what i was hoping for. I dont even care if its a non-Ecotec

custom manifold, 35mm wastegate, turbo xs bov, custom charge pipe, intercooler, 42lb injectors, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, high flow magnaflow cat, red hots glass pack, side exit exhaust, spec stage 2 clutch, fidenza lighten flywheel, lower mount (rk sport), upper mount, front and rear trans mount, safc 2, greddy full auto timer, too much other @!#$ to list. Ill be updating car domain after everything is in. HP= not enough. Prolly like 250 until i rebuild the motor.

21 wheel hp equals 30 crank. 30 divided by 2 is 15. 5.4 divided by 2 is 2.7. 2.7 gains 15hp. 2.2 gains 3? I've only ran 1/8 miles at 8.2. I can take a curve on a country road marked 35 at 55. With the original factory spoiler I slid all over the road. The spoiler was installed using some sort of laser deal at the dealer to ensure proper downforce.

Just post a dynosheet and end the discussion.

i have a gehtto air intake, lower motor mount, dual cat back system( managaflow) with camaro tips, just installed end link bushings today. that is all that isn't there to just look pretty. i think that got me back to 140 whp. i have a turbo but not enough stuff to install it. gm has got this block to pump out more then 1000 hp. and in nopi a racer hit 201 mph in the 1/4 mile/ 200 mph in the 1/4 is crazy even for v-8. well full body v-8's. that is with a fwd inline four. ok anyway. go turbo. that is a good way to make power

hand held computers that only read crank power don't print sheets. It read 280 at 6500 rpm. I took 25% to get 210 at the wheels. i'm not going to pay $150 to get a wheel power reading. When I beat 8 cylinders on an 1/8 mile track I know I'm fast. There isnt a car on earth that could take a 25 mile an hour curve at 75.
