Hey guys im new into the mod scene but Ive been with cars for a while, Im currently a contracted apprentice at Saturn, I got a P.D.I (post delivery inspection) the other day and noticed a 2.4 badge on the back, after further examination i.e popping the hood I notice single coil ignition system instead of that strip module that has been known to go bad also the engine is equipped wiht variable valve timing and an external oil cooler that sits next to where the oil filter cartridge goes... the engine is rated at 170 rwhp which i think is a nice boost, and intrigues me even more into this ecotec engine- although this is an option on these cars i think it was only about 700.00 which is not too hateful, i didnt know if anyone has heard of this yet or not, ill try to get some pics - it might be hard we only have one in stock so far
I would love to see some pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what kind of car did you see the engine in?
Brandon: the engine Sits in a saturn Ion, Im sure GM is implementing the design in all cars with the Ecotec engine.... The throttle no longer "sticks" or "lags" on this 2.4 and the pull with the extra 30hp and V.V.T is impressive

rwhp huh, so ION's are rear wheel drive now?
Read, then process the info, think logically, than if you don't have a headache afterwards, post your response
^^^ I'm glad someone else saw that too, now I know i'm not goin crazy lol.
4 door chargers, now rwd saturns, what's next :p
will the 2.4 head fit on the 2.2
10.5 second 1/8mile
est hp=130
est tq=135
im sure all the eco heads are interchangable
but with the amount of work to even try to get the vvt head to work , youd be money ahead getting the cobalt or ion with the 2.4 already
My new '06 Pontiac G6 is equipped with the new option.......Poncho moves!!!
The LE5 (2.4VVT) is standard in the 06 Ion 3, 07 Sky, & Cobalt LS. Maybe other cars too, but thats all I know of roght now.
Good chance they are interchangable, but then you have to think about the PCM that controls the VVT. Not to mention if the PCMs for those cars are compatible with the 2.2 harnesses and BCM.
NO the 06 Ion 3 with the LE5 is NOT RWD. Nor are the other 2 cars a mention that will or already have the LE5.
Now the Pontiac Solstice is RWD, and I think with a LE5. But not 100% on that one.
yah the solstice has the LE5 option
P.D.I is pre delivery inspection you dont inspect it after the customer has taken delivery on it
would rwhp could mean is Real Wheel Horse Power.
I don't know I have seen a couple of people say that lol

the 2.4 is going on the cobalt SS and the cobalt SS SC is a separate model. the HHR is supposed to be getting it too, same with the pontiac G6
didnt notice this thread,
anyone get a cobalt or an ion with one of these engines yet?
This pic is from the cobalt, the saturn has a little bigger plastic shield..
