At least they ended on a good note!
GM looses money on every Cobalt they sell. We'll be lucky if the LS/LT 2.2L models hang around for much longer. Hopefully GM get's their act together.

I can't find the article now, but with GM's troubles, it was figured at about a $2000 loss per new small GM car sold. I know GM idled the night shift at the Lordstown plant last year to lessen that number:
http://www.caranddriver.com/dailyautoinsider/10990/chevrolet-to-slow-cobalt-production.html When you've got ~$2000-3000 in incentaves for a car that stickers for ~$14K, they are not making much if anything.

Well ide say its because they dropped a S/C on a 4cyl FWD with a torsion bar....umm its a torsion bar.....hello...
167,000 on an Ecotec since 02
from what I understand they can not keep emission/ smog up to par on the 2.0L lsj motor
I"m told that the 2.2L and 2.4L do not use the same valve cambers so thier is no problem thier
also the only turbo ecotec i have herd about is the 2.4l turbo from the solstic GXP

00-06 SAAB 4-cyls are also turbocharged 2.0 Ecotecs... Although this was a SAAB only item, this is likely where they got the technology source and R&D for the turbo version.
the 2008 cobalt ss is turbo... its 2.0 LNF engine producing about 260hp.... come on this is old news on CSS.net we knew this since october
