It has been my understanding that generally, the European preferred specs for engine oils are for thicker weight oils than the specs usually prescribed by North American car manufacturers. Therefore, would somebody provide information about what the UK vehicle manuals recommend for engine oil for the 2.2 Ecotec engine?
we normally use semi sythetic or fully sythetic..most vauxhall dealers use Mobil 1fully syth 0-40 or 5-40...hope this helps
Thanks. That is quite interesting. Here in Canada and also in the USA, General Motors specifies 5W30 for the 2.2L Ecotec motors. The owners manual says :"10W30 is acceptable if 5W30 is not available".
I did ,however, get a reply from a UK member on another discussion forum who said he works at an Opel dealership and said they use 5W30.
